Scope

These Guidelines apply to the game titles published by the Company (the “Covered Titles”).

However, these Guidelines do not apply to titles for which separate guidelines have been established, or to titles expressly stated to be outside the scope of these Guidelines.

The following titles are excluded from part of these Guidelines at the request of the rights holders of the original work. Please check the list below before you begin.

*For the titles listed above, every item other than those shown as excluded, including streaming and Let’s Plays and the handling of official materials, remains covered by these Guidelines.

1. Spoilers

For Covered Titles with a narrative, we do not prohibit fan content, Let’s Plays, impressions or theory posts from touching on spoilers as such.

At the same time, we would like to avoid situations where someone who has not yet purchased the game learns the ending at a moment they did not choose. Please keep the following in mind.

Please refrain from placing content that goes to the heart of the work, such as the ending of the story, the truth behind the central incident, or whether a character lives or dies, in places a viewer cannot easily avoid, such as thumbnails, video titles or the opening of a post.

• For posts that contain spoilers, state this in the title or at the start of the post, and add a buffer such as a warning screen where appropriate
• Please take particular care on vertical-scroll video services and other environments where viewers cannot choose what is displayed to them
• Where a title has its own dedicated hashtag, please follow the instructions given in its title-specific notes

For titles where spoilers are handled differently, please see the table under “Scope.”

2. Please Respect the Creations and Interpretations of Others

How a work is received, how its characters are interpreted and the direction an expression takes will differ from person to person.

Please refrain from posts that attack or seek to exclude others over differences in interpretation or expression. The same applies to acts whose purpose is to damage the image of a work or its characters, and to uses intended to cause harm to others.

Please also note that it may be difficult for the Company to judge or respond in advance as to whether a particular expression conforms to these Guidelines. We appreciate your understanding.

3. Use for Particular Ideologies or Causes

The following uses of a Covered Title, its characters, names or setting are not permitted.

• Use whose main purpose is to solicit or express support for religious or political activities
• Discriminatory claims directed at a particular culture, ethnic group or similar
• Slander of or attacks on third parties
• Acts that infringe the rights or trademarks of third parties
• Use by organized crime groups, and use that promotes such groups

Covered Titles are intended to be enjoyed by a wide range of people. Please refrain from use whose main purpose is to spread a particular ideology or cause.

Please refrain from the following.

• Analyzing game data to extract images, audio, text or similar, and reusing or redistributing it
• Using official illustrations, character sprites, backgrounds, logos, UI, video, audio, music, scenarios or similar as-is as material for fan works, and reposting or republishing them
• Using official materials in a way that is effectively a reproduction of or a substitute for them, even where they have been traced, edited, redrawn or recolored
• Publishing content in a form that substitutes for the product itself, such as a full transcript of the scenario

On the other hand, there is no problem with using screenshots or recorded footage of the game to the extent needed for Let’s Plays, reviews, impressions, theories and the like. When doing so, please bear in mind section 1, “Spoilers.”

7. Distribution and Sale of Fan Works

This section is written with fan and dōjin activity on an individual scale in mind.

8. Fan Games and Apps

Unofficial games and apps created as fan activity on an individual scale may be created and published provided that all of the following are met.

Distribution on platforms such as Steam and itch.io is not in itself a problem. However, wherever you distribute, it must be free of charge. Note that these Guidelines do not guarantee that your work will be listed on, or allowed to remain on, any given platform.

9. Endorsement and Individual Confirmation

Even where a work is created and published within the scope of these Guidelines, this does not mean that the Company or any related rights holder endorses, supervises or recommends it.

As a general rule, we do not respond to advance inquiries about individual works, such as whether a work conforms to the Guidelines, whether it may be published, or whether it can receive an endorsement.

• Commercial use such as advertising or tie-ups
• Use beyond the scope of these Guidelines

10. Third-Party Rights

Covered Titles may include IP, characters, music, video or other material to which rights holders other than the Company hold rights.

Titles for which additional restrictions have been imposed at the request of the rights holders of the original work are listed in the table under “Scope.”

11. In Closing

The Company is delighted by the creations and posts of everyone who enjoys our titles.

We hope you will enjoy them in your own way, while keeping in mind consideration for the works themselves and for everyone else who enjoys them.

These Guidelines do not constitute a waiver of any copyright or other rights held by the Company or by any rights holder.

If you stream or create fan content, please check applicable laws, the terms of each platform and the rights of third parties, and act at your own responsibility. These Guidelines do not guarantee that no dispute will arise with a third party, nor that your content will be listed or allowed to remain on any platform.

Regardless of the content of these Guidelines, if confusion with official material, infringement of third-party rights, or significant detriment to a work or to the Company is identified, we may ask that the posted, sold or published content be deleted, corrected or taken down.

The Company accepts no liability for any damage incurred by users or third parties as a result of use under these Guidelines.

These Guidelines may be changed without prior notice. Following any change, the latest version of the Guidelines applies.
